What are the minimum and maximum temperatures of a heat exchanger?

The temperature limits of a heat exchanger depend on:

  • Choice of materials (e.g. stainless steel or special alloys)
  • Gaskets (in plate heat exchangers)
  • Design pressure and construction

Depending on the type, heat exchangers may be suitable for cryogenic applications down to temperatures above 800°C in industrial processes. We also have experience with cryogenic applications involving liquid nitrogen at around -200°C and liquid hydrogen at around -250°C.
