Which heat exchangers are suitable for high pressures, extreme temperatures or corrosive media?
Not every heat exchanger is suitable for harsh process conditions. The right choice depends on the combination of pressure, temperature, corrosiveness and susceptibility to fouling of the medium.
For high pressures, Shell & Tube, Plate & Shell or (in the case of extremely high pressures) Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers (PCHEs) are often used. For corrosive media, materials such as stainless steel, duplex, superduplex, Hastelloy, titanium or nickel alloys can be selected.
The right combination of design, materials and manufacturing process results in a heat exchanger that operates safely and has a long service life, even under the most challenging process conditions.
