What is the thermal capacity of a heat exchanger?
The thermal capacity of a heat exchanger is the amount of heat transferred per unit of time, usually expressed in kW or MW. The capacity (Q) depends on:
- Flow rate of the media
- LMTD = Logarithmic temperature difference
- k-value = Heat transfer coefficient
- A = Heat exchange surface area
The following formula is often used in design calculations:
