Welded Plate Block Heat Exchangers

Welded plate block heat exchangers are compact and highly efficient heat exchangers that have been specially developed for industrial applications involving high temperatures, high pressures and corrosive media. Thanks to their fully welded construction, these heat exchangers operate without gaskets, which significantly reduces the risk of leaks and ensures a high level of operational reliability.

The heat exchanger consists of a fully welded plate pack in which profiled plates form narrow flow channels. This geometry creates high turbulence in the fluid flows, resulting in excellent heat transfer and efficient utilisation of the available heat transfer surface area. Thanks to their compact design, Plate Block heat exchangers take up considerably less space than traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers, whilst often achieving higher thermal efficiencies.

Welded plate block heat exchangers are widely used in sectors such as the chemical industry, petrochemicals, the energy sector, refrigeration technology and the process industry. They are particularly suitable for applications involving corrosive liquids, solvents, ammonia, hydrocarbons and other critical process media. Depending on the application, materials such as stainless steel, titanium, Hastelloy and other high-grade alloys are used to ensure optimum corrosion resistance and a long service life.

A key feature of the Plate Block heat exchanger is its combination of robustness and ease of maintenance. Compared with other fully welded heat exchangers, this type generally offers better access for inspection and cleaning, which increases its suitability for use in contaminating processes.

Thanks to their compact design, high efficiency and reliability, welded plate-block heat exchangers offer a sustainable solution for modern industrial heat transfer.
