Welded heat exchanger
Welded heat exchangers have been developed for industrial processes where reliability, safety and high thermal performance are essential. Thanks to their fully welded construction, these heat exchangers operate reliably under high pressures, at extreme temperatures and with aggressive media — without the use of gaskets. This significantly reduces the risk of leaks and provides a robust solution for demanding process conditions.
Thanks to the combination of a compact design and high heat transfer capacity, welded heat exchangers deliver excellent thermal performance within a limited installation space. The efficient flow geometry ensures optimum heat transfer, enabling processes to operate more energy-efficiently and reducing operational costs.
Welded heat exchangers are widely used in sectors including the chemical industry, the petrochemical industry, the food industry, refrigeration technology, the maritime sector and the energy sector. Depending on the application, various designs are available, each with specific characteristics and advantages. Common types include shell-and-tube heat exchangers, plate-and-shell heat exchangers, plate-block heat exchangers, spiral heat exchangers and semi-welded plate heat exchangers.
As welded heat exchangers do not use elastomeric gaskets, they are particularly suitable for applications involving high temperatures, pressure differentials or chemically aggressive media. The fully welded construction increases mechanical strength and contributes to a long service life and high operational reliability.
Depending on the type of heat exchanger and the application, ease of cleaning can be an important consideration. Whilst some fully welded systems offer limited access for mechanical cleaning, various designs actually provide good opportunities for inspection, maintenance and chemical cleaning.
With their combination of compactness, durability and high efficiency, welded heat exchangers offer a future-proof solution for modern industrial heat transfer.
